Mineral resources can be divided into two major categories – Metallic and Nonmetallic. Metallic resources are things like Gold, Silver, Tin, Copper, Lead, Zinc, Iron, Nickel, Chromium, and Aluminum. Nonmetallic resources are things like sand, gravel, gypsum, halite, Uranium, dimension stone.
India's mineral resources are sufficiently rich and varied to provide the country with a strong industrial base. The country is particularly rich in the metallic minerals of the ferrous group such as iron ores, manganese, chromite and titanium. It has the world's largest reserves in mica and bauxite.
